Aria, “Achzen und erbärmlich Weinen,” from Cantata 13, two versions
from:
Originally for two recorders and violin (all on the same line), bass voice and continuo in g minor. The recorder part fits the key of a minor, so the 1st arrangement is in that key. For the second, g minor, version one can play a recorder part in that key, with alternatives for the low e’s in the original. Or, if you have an alto in Eb you can play from the part in a minor, which would mean you’d have to get both versions. Title means, “Groaning and pitiful weeping.” This arrangement is dedicated to the memory of Samuel Baron, a dear friend, remarkable in every way flutist, all-around musician, musicologist, teacher and administrator, with whom I studied and played this piece long ago.
Keyboard parts include separate recorder parts at no additional cost.
